Mary Ann Go provides a full service including finding investor support, incubators, and business plans, advising on how to prepare for the program, reviewing eligibility for temporary and permanent residence applications, and providing assistance with the preparation and filing of the application.
The Canadian Start-up Visa Program (SUVP) is the best as compared to other countries. It is reasonably flexible as it requires no minimum education, no minimum net-worth, no prior business experience, no age limit, just a modest amount of settlement funds, a simple business structure, and language proficiency of a Canadian Language Benchmark 5.
All the person needs is a “smart idea”. A rigorous evaluation from the angel investors, and capital venture who will pass your “smart idea”. If both of these private investors did not merit approval, you can find a designated incubator but some DO charge a fee that will attest to granting you a Letter of Support (LOS): the only other requirement for applying for Permanent Residency under the SUVP. You will be given a work permit to come to Canada to execute the ‘smart idea “ business plan and wait for your permanent residency approval or just wait in your home country.
Leveraging nearly a decade of experience, Mary Ann Go is here to guide aspiring entrepreneurs in their journey to establishing startups in Canada. When it comes to applying for the Canada Startup Visa program, applicants must meet all the following four key eligibility requirements:
Innovative Business Idea: Have a business idea that is new, innovative, and has the potential to create jobs for Canadians.
Ownership Requirements: Control at least 10% of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation outstanding at that time (up to 5 people can apply as owners).
Designated Organizations: Secure a letter of support from a designated organization (a venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator).
Investment Requirement: If applying through a venture capital fund, you must secure at least CAD 200,000 investment; through an angel investor group, secure at least CAD 75,000 investment.
Minimum Language Requirement: Meet the minimum language requirements of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in either English or French.
Certified Language Test: Provide test results from an approved agency to show you meet the minimum language requirement.
Proof of Funds: Demonstrate that you have enough money to settle and support yourself and your family in Canada. The amount required is determined by the size of your family and is updated annually.
Accessible and Unencumbered Funds: Ensure that funds are readily available and not tied up in assets or business ventures.
Meeting all these requirements is essential in qualifying for the Canada Startup Visa program. It is advisable to work closely with a consultant to properly address each requirement in your application.
